Dog training is more than teaching your dog to sit and down. The first 2-3 years are most important in teaching and training your dog, and: even an old dog can learn new tricks.It is never too late.

- Know about the social nature and structure of dog packs and be able to read your dog's body language.
- Be knowledgeable about your dog's breed characteristics.
- Spend time, and more time with your dog.
- Develop a bond of trust and respect.
- Be fair and consistent, set clear boundaries, reward good behavior and make it fun to be around and train.
- Don't raise your dog to be a spoiled brat - it might, in the end, kill him - and dog's teeth can hurt
